Head Timer Saturday Fly
Hi!
I put your family down for the following Champ Meet role:
Head Timer Saturday Fly
You will check in with me or Cristina Goucher when you arrive on Saturday. You will also need to check in at the volunteer table before 8:20am (south end of pool deck). Timing meeting is at 8:20am. You will be relieved from your head timing job around event 21/22. Please do not leave until you have passed the timers to our team's next head timer. If no one has relieved you by event 23, please save my number and text me (209-712-7421) and I will make sure you are relieved.
Head Timer: It sounds like a lot, but all it means is that you will be given 2 stop watches and stand at one end of the pool. You will start your stop watches at the start of each race. If any timer has a timing issue during a race, they will raise their hand, and you will bring them a running stopwatch to use. That's it. Reset it at the start of each race. I'm not sure which end of the pool we'll be assigned, but there will be one more head timer and you'll each stand at opposite ends of the starting blocks.
Please bring a water bottle with you. There are large orange jugs behind the blocks to refill your water bottle should you need it.
They wanted me to stress to all timers to make sure you step all the way to the edge of the pool so you can catch the finish. Remember swimmers can touch the wall below the water too. As head timer, you can gently remind timers of this.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your help!
Kindly,
Amanda Friddle
