THINGS I FORGOT TO SAY + SWIM OUTLET

Huge shout out to all the families that turned out tonight! What a great turn out. We sincerely think we have the best parents on our team. THANK YOU!!

I forgot a few things tonight. Feel free to scan this email for the headings and the bolded stuff to find what you need to know. Swim is a lot. Worth it. But a lot LOL ;)

The first two weeks we try to make sure someone is in the guard shack during practice to answer questions, take payment, help you download and work the Swimtopia app... whatever you need. And there's usually someone there during most practices beyond the first two weeks :)

I'm going to attach the handouts from tonight for those who couldn't make it. If you registered before this week, I do need the photo release signed next week (it's attached). If you registered this week, it was a part of the online registration and you don't need to worry about it. (If you don't remember when you registered, do me a solid and just fill it out.)

Practice Times

I forgot to cover practice times tonight. There had to be something that was forgotten. Oi.

Here's the current schedule:

  • Baby Rays: 5:30-6:00 (MW Only)
  • 9 and under: 6:00-6:30 (M-Th)
  • 10 and up: 6:30-7:30 (M-Th)

Baby Rays must have a parent/adult or 12yo+ sibling/relative (who is on the team) with them in the water during practice. We do have a waitlist for Baby Rays, so please let me know if you decide your swimmer isn't ready to join yet.

We are discussing the possibility of adding a morning practice for our Stingray swimmers if needed once school lets out. We'll keep you posted on that.

Our swim season looks like this:

Practices Monday through Thursday for Stingrays and Monday and Wednesday for Baby Rays through all May and June.

June 10 we have our "Blue and White Meet" (this is our time trials where all the swimmers swim everything they are eligible for, and we all practice running a meet with just our Stingrays fam. It's always a good time.)

Starting June 12, we have 5 dual meets, always on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The last one is July 1. Meets start at 5pm (technically 5:30, but Baby Rays start before that) and can go until 8:30. Baby Rays swim at the beginning of meets and at the halftime and are free to go after that.

After July 1, practices continue specifically preparing swimmers for City Meet. City Meet is Jul 11-13 (Friday is IM, Saturday is half-lappers--ie baby rays--fly and back, Sunday is breast and free, relays, and the coaches relay. Friday is during the evening. Saturday and Sunday are mornings until about 1pm. You and your swimmer get to pick their events. It's totally up to you if you come for all of it or just one day of it.) We'll conclude with an awards night and team BBQ/pool party on Sunday evening, July 13.

You can find all the dates on our website.

Stroke and Turn Judges:

I only need 1 more Stroke and Turn Judge. THANK YOU to those who signed up!! Let me know if you are interested. Those who signed up: it looks like the training will be Thursday May 22 in the evening OR Saturday May 31 in the morning. (You only need to attend 1)

Swim Outlet

I added our team roster to Swim Outlet. You should have gotten an email from them. This gives you a free year-long membership so you can get the team suit at a discount. Feel free to unsubscribe from their emails if you wish. ;)

Swimmer's Ear

I hope our resident nurse, Cristina Goucher (our amazing VP), sends out a separate email reminder for this--but do consider getting "swimear" ear drops and use them after each practice. They are basically alcohol drops that will dry out any water that may have gotten trapped in the ear while swimming. It's a great way to skip the dreaded "swimmer's ear" ear infection.

Do reach out if you have any questions before practice starts.

See you at the pool THIS MONDAY!! :)
